Meet
John Edward Jones
Mr. Jones opened his law office in Seminole
County more 35 years ago and has strong ties throughout
the Central Florida community. He obtained an undergraduate
degree from Florida State University ('65) and his Juris
Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law ('68).
He has received an AV
rating from Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, the
law directory's highest possible rating. He is also
listed in many publications, including Who's Who
in American Law. In addition, Mr. Jones is a diplomate
of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers and a sustaining
member of the American Trail Lawyers Association for
more than 25 years.
Outside of his law office, John has two
commitments: his family and his church. He has a long
history of involvement and leadership at Calvary
Assembly of Orlando. As past vice-chairman of the
board at Calvary Assembly, he is part of the leadership
that serves 5,000 parishioners. He is extremely proud
of the successful campaign that eliminated the church's
debt of $15 million in 2000.
Mr. Jones has a broad range of experience
from working as a professional football scout for the
Kansas City Chiefs to four years' active duty in the
Navy during Vietnam and 18 additional years in the Navy
reserves through Desert Storm, during which he obtained
the rank of lieutenant commander. He is also the author
of the book Reconciliation,
where he discusses many of his life experiences, as
well as his legal practice within the criminal, family,
and personal injury areas. The book has sold more than
100,000 copies. He also serves on the board of directors
for Calvary Towers, a HUD project for lower income elderly
people and people with handicaps. Through his involvement,
Mr. Jones became aware of medical problems faced by
the elderly. For example, he learned early on of defects
with Sulzer hip replacements.
On a personal level, Mr. Jones and his
wife Carolyn, like many families, helped to care for
an elderly parent. With Carolyn's mother, they went
through the transition from an assisted living facility
into a nursing home,
where they visited her regularly until her death in
September 2005. As a lawyer, he is particularly astute
regarding nursing homes and other difficulties the elderly
face.
Mr. Jones's ties to Central Florida have
been further strengthened through his three children.
His son, Randy, is a city commissioner in Sanford and
is dedicated to planning for the future and improving
the lives of his
constituents. His daughter, Julie, has given Mr. Jones
and his wife three grandchildren. His younger son, Andrew,
has followed in his father's footsteps and was admitted
to the Florida Bar in April 2006 and is
currently practicing in Brevard and Seminole County
as an Assistant State Attorney.
In his church community, Mr. Jones has
counseled people from all walks of life who face problems
and tragedies in their lives. As a lawyer, he is able
to conduct both his personal life and career by his
own moral
standards, while at the same time accepting people in
a completely non-judgmental manner. This is an invaluable
characteristic when helping people solve problems and
change their lives for the better. John Jones is truly
a "counselor" of law. |
